9.3.5.1  Blanket Recommendations

A blanket recommendation occurs when a firm or financial professional makes a recommendation to all their customers or clients to buy or sell a particular security. Since when making a blanket recommendation the firm or professional does not consider whether the action is suitable for each individual customer, making such a recommendation is generally a bad idea, and therefore prohibited.
