Solomon Exam Prep is led by founders Karen and Jeremy Solomon, both of whom have maintained a lifelong commitment to advancing learning and education. Solomon Exam Prep draws from a pool of seasoned educators, practitioners and communicators who are experienced in both investment education and the process of adult learning.
Jeremy Solomon’s interest in investing was sparked in junior high school when he took a summer school class on the stock market. In addition to Solomon Exam Prep, Jeremy is the founder of Inkwater Press and First Books. He was the founding admininstrator of Practicing Attorneys for Law Students in New York City, an educational program for law students at New York City area law schools. Jeremy received an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and a BA in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Karen Solomon has a BA in Mathematics from St. Olaf College and a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Chicago. For many years, she worked as a Psychology Professor teaching and doing research on how the brain learns and memorizes information. She has taught at Northwestern University, Willamette University, and Lewis and Clark College, winning awards for her teaching. Karen joined Solomon Exam Prep to help develop better educational products and services. She has a passion for designing materials and classes that are better at helping people remember and learn new information.
Masha Shubin is a quintessential Renaissance woman, with over fifteen years of experience in web and graphic design. As Art Director for Solomon Exam Prep, she makes full use of her creativity and skills in graphic design. From book covers to product marketing, Masha has been an integral part of Solomon Exam Prep’s success for over 10 years.
Al Schaller has twenty years’ experience in the electric utility industry ranging from rate design and power contract negotiations to short term marketing and trading, to risk management. Al received degrees from Indiana University (BA, English) and the University of Oregon (MS, Economics). Al writes and develops content and his published writings include literary translations and essays.
Alan Bellman earned his BS from the University of Michigan and JD from Ohio State University. He joined Solomon Exam Prep as accounting manager with over thirty years of financial experience in the printing and publishing industries. Alan specializes in the areas of estimating, cost accounting, finance and business management.
Craig MacAllister earned a BA in history from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a PhD in American History from the University of Michigan. For several years, he worked as a history professor at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. He enjoys reading, fitness, homebrewing, and is a dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox and University of Michigan athletics.
Paige Asay received her BS in Visual Communication Design from Western Oregon University, as well as a superlative Best Artist from her middle school. While at WOU she gained experience in branding, film, and media-related communications. She makes use of this experience as a Graphic Designer and Customer Service Rep here at Solomon Exam Prep. She has a strong admiration for mass media, coffee, and Greek mythology.
Blair Peterson received his BA in International Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before joining the team, he spent several years teaching English in Japan. Now he's combining his passion for education with his love of technology as a web developer at Solomon Exam Prep. When it's too cold to go camping, Blair can generally be found with a book in his hand and a dog (or two) in his lap.
Susan graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, and completed the post-secondary Accounting Studies program at DePaul University in Chicago. She worked in accounting and finance for the majority of her career. She has been Director of Business Development since 2015. Susan enjoys being outdoors, and includes hiking, skiing and camping as some of her favorite activities.
Beth Hamilton earned her B.S Degree in Psychology and Sociology from Portland State University. In her role as Head of Business Development for Colleges and Universities, she applies her 30 plus years of bookselling experience as Book Department Manager and Course Materials Buyer at Portland State. She enjoys volunteering, traveling, gardening, hanging out with her cat, George, and of course, is an avid reader with a love for non-fiction and mysteries.
