Solomon Exam Prep is led by founders Karen and Jeremy Solomon, both of whom have maintained a lifelong commitment to advancing learning and education. Solomon Exam Prep draws from a pool of seasoned educators, practitioners and communicators who are experienced in both investment education and the process of adult learning.
Jeremy Solomon’s interest in investing was sparked in junior high school when he took a summer school class on the stock market. In addition to Solomon Exam Prep, Jeremy is the founder of Inkwater Press and First Books. He was the founding admininstrator of Practicing Attorneys for Law Students in New York City, an educational program for law students at New York City area law schools. Jeremy received an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and a BA in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Karen Solomon has a BA in Mathematics from St. Olaf College and a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Chicago. For many years, she worked as a Psychology Professor teaching and doing research on how the brain learns and memorizes information. She has taught at Northwestern University, Willamette University, and Lewis and Clark College, winning awards for her teaching. Karen joined Solomon Exam Prep to help develop better educational products and services. She has a passion for designing materials and classes that are better at helping people remember and learn new information.
Bob Pisani has devoted more than 10 years to delivering licensing training at some of the top financial services companies in the world including Lincoln Financial Group, ING and The Vanguard Group. Professor Pisani teaches online and on-site classes, creates training curriculum and provides individualized tutoring to Solomon Exam Prep’s customers. He has personally assisted over a thousand students to prepare for and successfully pass their FINRA and insurance licensing exams. Professor Pisani prides himself on his unique training style that engages the audience and breaks down complicated subject matter into lessons that can be easily understood by all. What sets Bob apart is the individual attention that he gives to each student and his sincere desire to help every student succeed.
Holly has a BAS in Psychology from the University of Minnesota Duluth and an MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College. Her editing experience spans various genres, from poetry and fiction to memoir and children’s books, as well as promotional and educational materials. In her pre-editing life, she spent over two years working with securities and investments. An avid reader, Holly has a keen eye for detail. She is also a published fiction writer and has a passion for ancient and medieval history.
Masha Shubin is a quintessential Renaissance woman, with over fifteen years of experience in web and graphic design. As Art Director for Solomon Exam Prep, she makes full use of her creativity and skills in graphic design. From book covers to product marketing, Masha has been an integral part of Solomon Exam Prep’s success for over 10 years.
Al Schaller has twenty years’ experience in the electric utility industry ranging from rate design and power contract negotiations to short term marketing and trading, to risk management. Al received degrees from Indiana University (BA, English) and the University of Oregon (MS, Economics). Al writes and develops content and his published writings include literary translations and essays.
Alan Bellman earned his BS from the University of Michigan and JD from Ohio State University. He joined Solomon Exam Prep as accounting manager with over thirty years of financial experience in the printing and publishing industries. Alan specializes in the areas of estimating, cost accounting, finance and business management.
Tim Kerlin has an MA in Creative Writing from The University of Texas at Austin, as well as an MFA in Creative Writing from Texas State University. He taught college-level English for about ten years and has published his work in a variety of literary journals. His obsessive book-collecting habit is exceeded only by his soft spot for cats.
Craig MacAllister earned a BA in history from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a PhD in American History from the University of Michigan. For several years, he worked as a history professor at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. He enjoys reading, fitness, homebrewing, and is a dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox and University of Michigan athletics.
Michael is an experienced Full Stack developer who earned his BS in computer science from National University while working full time in construction management. As an Air Force veteran, he always had the drive to achieve his goals even if it meant sacrificing a lot of personal time. He enjoys a good programming challenge and has a keen eye for front end web design. In his free time he is passionate about playing banjo, volunteering, fly fishing, and going on adventures with his wife and daughter.
Carson Foreman earned his BA in Rhetoric & Media Studies from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. After making the move from California to Oregon, Carson found his new home in Portland. With a concentration in English, he enjoys putting his verbal and written skills to use by problem-solving and helping people. In his spare time, Carson enjoys portrait photography and playing with dogs.
Paige Asay received her BS in Visual Communication Design from Western Oregon University, as well as a superlative Best Artist from her middle school. While at WOU she gained experience in branding, film, and media-related communications. She makes use of this experience as a Sound Engineer and Customer Service Rep here at Solomon Exam Prep. She has a strong admiration for mass media, coffee, and Greek mythology.
