7.2.4.1.2. Other Principals

General Security Sales Supervisor (Series 9/10)—allows the individual to supervise sales activities, review retail communications, and approve retail communications. However, the individual cannot supervise investment banking, trading, or overall firm compliance with financial responsibilities. Series 7 is a prerequisite.

Compliance Officer (Series 14 or SIE, Series 7, and Series 24)—allows the individual to either have day-to-day compliance responsibilities for their firm or to supervise 10 or more employees who are engaged in compliance activities.

Note: The registration category of Compliance Officer is distinct from the designation of Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) described below.

Financial and Operations Principal (Series 27)—prepares the financial reports for a clearing firm, filed with FINRA and the SEC.

Introducing Broker-Dealer Financial and Operations Principal (Series 28)—prepares the less-involved financial reports for a non-clearing firm, filed with FINRA and the SEC.

Note: The list of activities that a FINOP (regular or introducing) is qualified to perform encompasses the responsibilities of both a Principal Financial Officer (PFO) and a Principal Operations Officer (POO), special designations described in the next section. Anyone registered as a FINOP (regular or introducing) is eligible to be designated a PFO or POO.
