TIPS (Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities)

Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) are inflation-adjusted securities issued by the U.S. Treasury. With TIPS, the principal is adjusted according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), and at maturity, the investor receives the inflation-adjusted principal or the original principal, whichever is greater.
