Series 24: 1.2.4. Permissive Registration

Taken from our Series 24 Online Guide

1.2.4. Permissive Registration

FINRA allows permissive registration, which means that a member firm can allow any employee to register in a category unrelated to their job function. For example, a non-registered clerical employee who hopes to be promoted to a registered representative may, with the firm’s permission, register with FINRA as a General Securities Representative and take the Series 7.

Permissive registration also allows registered persons to maintain their existing registrations
