17.2.1.1. Listing Requirements

As with any stock exchange, the companies who would like to list their securities on the Nasdaq must meet specific minimum standards. To be listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market, a stock must meet Nasdaq’s initial listing requirements and pay a listing fee. A listed company must have a minimum share price (e.g., $4), minimum number of market makers (e.g., 4), minimum market capitalization, and a minimum number of shares and shareholders. Listing requirements include a minimum share price, number of shares, size, value, and liquidity in the market.

Stocks on the Nasdaq exchange fit into one of three tiers, each having its own listing standards.
