3.3.5.  Affordable Housing

The federal government has subsidized low-income housing since the Great Depression. Currently, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides funds to help finance low-income public housing, to assist low-income families in meeting their rent payments, and to encourage private developers to invest in low-income housing.
