5.16.  FINRA Policy on Markups, Markdowns, and Commissions

FINRA has a number of specific rules governing the acceptable range of markups and markdowns, and the application of commissions on trades and transactions. A markup is added to the ask/offer price when a customer purchases a security. A markdown is taken off the bid price of a security when a customer sells a security.
