Callable preferred stock. Unlike bonds, preferred shares have no maturity date. Preferred stock is often callable, however, meaning that the issuer can redeem or repurchase the stock. The price and conditions under which an issuer can call preferred stock, usually including the payment of a premium, are stated in the prospectus.
