1.2.2.8  Pattern Day Trading Accounts

A pattern day trader is any customer who executes four or more day trades within five business days. Pattern day traders must open day trading accounts. FINRA requires a minimum equity requirement of $25,000 on any day that trading occurs. Buying power in a day trading account is up to four times the maintenance margin excess (funds above $25,000 equity).
