Bond Mutual Fund Volatility Ratings

A bond mutual fund volatility rating is a description of the sensitivity of a bond fund to changes in market conditions or the economy. FINRA has the following rules regarding volatility ratings:

  • Volatility ratings may be used only in communications that are accompanied or preceded by a fund prospectus (supplemental sales literature)
  • Volatility ratings must be current,
