Series 50: Financial Advisors

Taken from our Series 50 Online Guide

Financial Advisors

A financial advisor is any broker, dealer, or municipal securities dealer who provides advice or consulting to an issuer. Financial advisors are not allowed to have a stake in the sale of the issue; that is, they may not participate in the placement of the issue, nor may they purchase any of the issue. Another way to say this is, they may not act as an underwriter on the offering of the new issue.
