Definition of the term Initial Offering Period...

in a tender offer, a period beginning on the first day that shares may be tendered, and lasting at least 20 business days. Certain events may extend the initial offering period, such as the offeror changing the purchase price or number of shares sought. An extension to the initial offering period is not the same thing as a subsequent offering period. Compare with subsequent offering period.
