Definition of the term Capital Expenditure...

also called capex or capital investment. A category in the investing activities section of a cash flow statement. It is the cash spent on the purchase of long-term, tangible business assets, such as buildings and vehicles. Cash received from selling off existing assets of this sort is also reflected in capex.
