Series 50: Market Access Risk

Taken from our Series 50 - MSRB Municipal Advisor Representative Qualification Exam

Definition of the term Market Access Risk...

the risk that an issuer will not be able to obtain a favorable derivatives contract when it needs to in the future. For instance, if the term of the swap ends before term of the bonds that are being hedged, the issuer may not be able to receive the same terms on the new swap. This may be because interest rates have changed.
