1.2.2.7.3  Other Information on Margin Accounts

All margin accounts are “marked to the market” daily. This means that the account is updated with its market value as of the last sale of the prior day.

Only certain securities can be purchased on margin. These are called marginable securities. They include:

  • All securities listed on an exchange, such as the NASDAQ or NYSE, including stocks and bonds
  • U.S. government and municipal bonds
  • OTC securities that are listed on Federal Reserve marginable securities list
