Definition of the term Selling Group...

a group of broker-dealers who help sell an offering's securities to investors but have no obligation to buy the securities. Unlike actual underwriters, selling group members are not responsible for a portion of underwriting expenses, and do not receive a portion of the underwriting fee. Selling group members are also called selected dealers.
