Karen Solomon received PhD and MA degrees in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Chicago and a BA in Mathematics from Saint Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. Professor Solomon has received numerous awards and honors for her teaching and academic work, including an NIMH Research Fellowship at Northwestern University, a Faculty Achievement Award from Willamette University, a Fellowship from the University of Chicago and the Dewey Award for Lecturing from the University of Chicago. She has is currently an adjunct professor at Lewis & Clark University in Portland.
Jeremy Solomon was the founding administrator of Practicing Attorneys for Law Students (PALS) in New York City and the author of three books. He has a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA degree from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Solomon’s interest in investing was sparked in junior high school when he took a summer school class on the stock market.

Sara DeFilippi has a BA from Pace University in New York City, where she studied everything from languages to economics. Teaching English in Italy and managing imports for Burton Snowboards are but two of her varied work experiences. Sara has lived in three different countries but has settled in the beautiful but rainy Pacific Northwest. Her affinity for sales and marketing developed when she opened a retail store in Vermont, and her genuine empathy and love of helping people is apparent to everyone she works with, whether online, on the phone, or in the office.
Linda Franklin - After earning a BA in English at Yale University, Linda moved directly into publishing, working as an editor in a university setting as well as for numerous book publishers. Linda has been editing educational materials, as well as general fiction and nonfiction, for over three decades, with an additional focus on exam preparation for the last five years.
Masha Shubin - A quintessential Renaissance woman, Masha Shubin has over fifteen years of experience in web and graphic design, with additional experience ranging from customer service to computer programming to marketing to management. As Art Director for First Books/Inkwater Press, she makes full use of her creativity and skills in graphic design. She has worked as photographer, goodwill ambassador, mascot performer, movie producer, author, and theater director.
Heather Gerlt - Heather Gerlt was given her first stock by her grandfather on the day she was born. With a BA from University of Oregon she began working for First Books in 2005. She brings years of customer service experience to Solomon Exam Prep. Currently pursuing a Masters in Education she is very sympathetic to others studying for exams.
Alan Bellman - Alan Bellman has over thirty years of financial experience in the printing and publishing industries. He has experience in the areas of estimating, cost accounting, finance and business management. He has earned degrees from the University of Michigan and The Ohio State University.
Rob Goodwin - After earning his BS from Portland State University, Rob entered the field of Technology and Product Development. His first marketable electronic product was finished in 1995 and he immediately delved into the world of web design to promote that product. Over a decade’s worth of product development and internet marketing skills has landed him here on the SEP team where Rob is now in charge of bringing new ideas into useful, practical, and valuable products. He is directly involved with everything from audio book production and packaging to iPhone app development and testing.
